Backpacking Safety Tips

Travel is a trend these days amongst numerous people and so with the increase in

number of backpackers around the world, there is always a probability of one or the other dangerous situations. Amongst such situations, a few very common ones can be listed seen below:-

13% are likely to fall sick

9% cases of missing flights

6% are probable of being robbed or can be a victim of some personal crime.

And in case of younger travellers it is researched that 27% are likely to get ill, 14% get hurt, 13% are likely to face civil disturbance.

Pre-planning and preparation really helps a lot in such crucial situations, especially for young backpackers. Always take into account a few of them given below:

First and the foremost advice are about your funds and cash and other cards like debit/credit cards. It is recommended to not keep all your cash and cards at one place rather split it into various bags. Understand this if in case your hand bag is stolen and you still have funds and other cards in another bag, you can still continue your journey without these items and the hassles that come from not having them.

Make use of lockers and safety deposit boxes or if you are using your own padlock, that would also be a good idea.

Remember to keep in touch. That means that you should at least let someone know about the places you are going to visit and about your expected return.

Get acquainted about the country you are going to visit. This is really a very important thing you should know i.e. be aware about the customs and traditions and other rituals and things of that country to make sure that you wont offend anyone while you are traveling there.

One very important thing to note is that you shouldn't resist if there comes a situation in which you have become a subject of brutal robbery. Just keep one thing in mind at that point of time that your money can be replaced but you cannot. Dont carry or buy any expensive thing along with you, because this will definitely attract the attention of the robbers.

Best thing is to have a travelling insurance along with you. Although backpacking throughout the world is not a big deal, but getting insured will obviously be like a cover for various crucial situations. But dont forget to carry contact details of your insurance company along with you and contact them immediately after the incident. Before buying an insurance make sure that it matched with your travelling type.

Travel cautiously, beware you can be caught for crime falsely, or can be put into jail or worst can be put to death. This does happen in some countries. So thing and review twice or thrice before you choose any destination for you backpacking fun.

Conclusion: People have amazing experiences, and with those experiences they act wisely if they face any such problem and handle them accordingly in future. Collect your experiences in mind, or if you are going for the first time, listen to the experiences of other backpackers, plan your trip accordingly and definitely you will enjoy your trip to the fullest.
