Timing
The islands are a top spot for "destination weddings," but they are not the place for spontaneous elopements. Couples must be in The Bahamas at least 24 hours before they can get a license, longer if they want a weekend wedding.
Location
Choosing a locale from the enormous array of equally fabulous options also takes time. Prime locations for Bahamas weddings include beachside resorts, soaring cathedrals, lush parks and lavish banquet halls. The most popular can book months in advance.

Wedding Requirements
Whether you are prepared to go it alone or use a professional service, there are some basics you should keep in mind:
The 24-hour residency requirement applies except for weekend weddings. Couple must be in The Bahamas by Wednesday to qualify for a Saturday or Sunday ceremony.
No blood test is necessary.
Singles must provide an Affidavit of Marital Status.
Divorced or widowed brides and grooms must submit original or court-certified copies of divorce papers or death certificates. The latter is recommended because the materials will not be returned.
You must use a Marriage Officer licensed by the Bahamian Government. Family clergy are welcome to assist, but cannot pronounce the marriage. Exceptions can be made but only if the visiting clergy obtains a work permit.
