There are plenty of resources that you can purchase on the net to supplement your learning, and you can use these to practice at home.Although as an adult you may be allowed to attend class in your gym wear, it is always better to purchase ballet gear as this will make you feel like a dancer and perform better. The teacher will also be able to see if your muscles are working correctly. A leotard, tights, a chiffon skirt and ballet shoes should suffice.Now is the time to take that first step and start ballet lessons like you have always wanted to.
