Bangalore Aquarium – A Marine Gem

The history of the city of Bangalore in the state of Karnataka dates back to the 16th century

. Since then it has evolved into a technologically advanced, high flying city in India and at one time became popular as the Silicon Valley of India. Amidst the hustle and bustle of a rapidly progressing town, the Indian State Government's Fisheries Department decided to establish a marine habitat. For over two decades now the Bangalore Aquarium has been one of the largest sea creature repositories in India. It's an ideal place to take your kids for a joyful and educational tour and learn about the underwater world yourself.

The aquarium is located at the entrance to the Cubbon Park, making it a frequently visited, easily accessible nature wonderland. The aquarium itself is fairly large, diamond shaped and consists of three floors, where fish and other aquatic species are seen swimming freely in an artificially created comfortable atmosphere. Both foreign and indigenous marine animals are showcased here. Some of the most prominent types of sea life seen are the angel fish, Siamese fighters, blue gourami, Indian tiger barb, prawns, glow light tetra, Mahseer, eels, gold fish and red tail sharks. There is a small area stipulated for feeding fish which is usually the favourite spot among children. The second floor is almost entirely devoted to ornamental fish and is aglow with lights. Both the young and old visitors find a tour of the aquarium fascinating.
