There has been a heated debate in the internet marketing community as what is more

specific when we need to promote a website Banner ads or Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Well its very difficult to compare them because both are different forms of marketing but one thing is clear that both are good traffic generators for the website and are in practice since long.

So before comparing these two lets understand as what are banner ads. They constitute the starting world of internet marketing and before search engines it was only banners which establishes the identify of a website and send traffic to it. Initially there were static banners later came the GIF animations and finally flash. Today we can see the entire video banner with movie clips inside.

So the entire industry has evolved since then and its considered as one of the major channel of driving traffic onto a website and overall branding. Besides we have new innovations like behavioral targeting too covered in banner advertisements.


Now when it comes to SEO, the picture is quite different. SEO campaigns push the website to appear on google top pages so you can drive the targeted visitor on your website and get them converted into loyal customer. None of the marketing has been so effective than search engine optimization and the best part of it is that is not so costly.

Paid advertisements is accompanied with big budgets so it makes difficult for small business to adapt them but in case of SEO similar is not the case and a client can run a campaign even in tight budgets. Besides the conversion factor of SEO is quite famous as the visitor landed onto the website via search engines.

Hence if we compare banner ads with search engine optimization we will find that although banner ads can expose your business towards the internet population but the SEO is the path to make your website productive (i.e. getting real customers) and this is the aim of every online entrepreneur.

There are both pros and cons for almost everything so is with banner advertisement and search engine optimization. As an online marketer nobody can claim that you opt for only banner ads or the SEO. Its all up to the website owners to decide as per their budget. In general banner ads are costly compare to SEO so the decision can be made on the size of budget which a business can uphold.

Its worth investing in both these venues of internet marketing but as usual SEO is much more productive when it comes to conversion while banner ads brand the business on internet which again creates trust amongst the consumers.
