Baptism Favours

Baptism is for many parents the most important time for their children

, the time when all friends and relatives gather for the religious ceremony that brings the child into the church. It is a day celebrated as much as a wedding and involves all parties arriving in their best clothes, often bringing gifts for the child or person being baptised.

The gift is a similar idea to the favour bags you may get a wedding or at a children's party. The gifts then can be anything such as some of the celebration cake or maybe a small toy from the Childs party. The baptism favours tend to be all the same and to often remind guests of the date and time of the baptism.

Rather then small sweets and games the favours in this case are more linked to the occasion.With the economic turmoil as it is the traditional givers can be different and so can the gifts. The gifts don't have to be expensive, they can be anything basically. If the items can remind the guest specifically of the day it is even better. Also it's wise to try and keep the gifts the same for everyone to avoid any arguments from people who may feel left out.

The gift can be something simple as long as it's memorable. Maybe something as simple as a small decorated box with some chocolates or sweets inside it. Possibly include a small card with the baptisms date on it or on the box itself. This is something simple, very cheap and you can do the filling and decoration yourself. This saves everyone involved some money while still giving a nice gift that shows thought has been used.

One form of baptism favour is to presented the gift in a small box or packet, this containing the basic gift itself. This can be a few sweets or small ornaments. Maybe also include a card thanking them for attending the celebration. The card means they have a reminder of the day even if the gift isn't meant to last.

Something more elaborate for a favour could be a scroll or certificate remembering the time and date of the ceremony, perhaps with a hand or fingerprint from the baby to make it extra special. Maybe add a picture of the baby to make the remembering even more specific to the day.

As with everything these days you get what you pay for, this applies to these favours as well. You can stick to sweets or chocolate or move up through numerous other things. More affluent god parents can by silver or glass ornaments to give out, maybe engraved with the date of the ceremony. Maybe buy a scroll in a case thanking them for their attendance or maybe a framed picture of the child in their baptism costume.

Don't spend so much you end up in debt or so you have to downsize any other part of the day. Start with a figure you can afford and then work from that figure and above all don't go above it. Nobody should expect expensive gifts and no one should feel obliged to give them out.

It's quite possible that not all guests will know of the baptism favours tradition and so won't be expecting anything from the day. So enjoy the special day and let everyone have fun without bankrupting yourself in the meantime.
