The old customs house was built in 1902 at the Portal de la Pau, the citys previous maritime entrance. To the south, the Moll de Barcelona with a new World Trade Centre serves as the passenger pier for visiting liners. And, just a couple of steps away from some of Barcelonas more well known edifices like the Sagrada Familia, the famous half finished church designed by Gaudi, the Gothic quarter is stuffed with buildings from the medieval era.

Barcelona has had an immense evolution over time. The largest step was for the 1992 Olympic Games when most of the economic sites were demolished to create space for new construction. Las Ramblas is the path to go to when wandering the roads of Barcelona. It is filled from one end to the other with a smooth stream of performers from the jugglers and street artists recreating famous pictures in near perfect three dimensional designs, to the silent human statues that only on more closer inspection do you realize that they are human,. You will find musicians of every age playing all sorts of music from wonderful classical pieces to jazz buskers whether in the square or out on the street.
