Barfi! Cover Story Oscars Entry, Yes Or No

Barfi! Is an Indian romantic comedy film of 2012 which is written and directed by Anurag Basu

. "Barfi" is a story of deaf and mute boy Ranbir who lives in Darjeeling, West Bengal and his relations with two girls Shruti and jhilmil one of whom is autistic. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz are in the lead roles.

The story of BARFI starts in the 1970s in one part of India, Barfi is basically the stroy of three people Barfi, Jhilmil and Shruti. Barfi is based on the same old love triangle but with a different turn. The three of them realize that love is undefined and does not depend on social norms and societal pressure. Ranbeer as Barfi in the film plays as a hearing and speech impaired boy who fall in love with Shruti. Even though Shruti also loves barfi she gets married to a normal man because of her parental pressure. Movie goes on and Barfi fall in love with Jhilmil soon when shruti meets back Barfi she realize that she still loves Barfi . Now who chooses whom is barfi ?

The question that whether the film is just so special that it should be selected for OSCARS or not is in debate this days?

Barfi! made on a budget of 30 Crore (US$5.43 million). Barfi was released on 14 September 2012 across 1300 theatres in India after which it was decide that it would be also dubbed in English version. The acting of all the lead actors Ranbir, Priyanka was praised for showing positive portrayal of the differently abled in films. After the success of which it was decided that film will be sent as India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film nomination for the 85th Academy Awards in February 2013.

Though Barfi! has been selected for India's entry for the Oscars for the year 2013. There continues to be a debate over its selection made by the jury of the Film Federation of India as some believe that Barfi does not suits with the list of such great films like Telegu film 'Eega', 'Paan Singh Tomar', 'Gangs of Wasseypur' and 'Kahani', also Marathi film 'Deeol' and Malayalam film 'Akashthinte Niram' and others.

On which head of the jury of Film Federation of India says that it has been a movie which touched the people of India in different aspects, she continues to say that it has been selected by a group of juries altogether and hopefully will be nominated from all the above.

But the question remain the same that whether Barfi will be selected as one to go for nomination leaving behind other success stories and will win OSCARS to India or it will be another to join the league of 'Lagaan', 'Salaam Bombay', 'Mother India'.
