Based Statistical Methods

Statistics is the science of making effective use of numerical data relating to groups of individuals or experiments

. It deals with all aspects of this, including not only the collection, analysis and interpretation of such data, but also the planning of the collection of data, in terms of the design of surveys and experiments. Data based statistics improve the quality of data with the design of experiments and survey sampling. Statistics also provides tools for prediction and forecasting using data and statistical models. Data based statistics is applicable to a wide variety of academic disciplines, including natural and social sciences, government, and business. (Source: Wikipedia)

Focus Based on Statistical Methods:

Summarization of large numbers of data along with the collection of large number of data is obtaining the calculation of the statistics. Statistics calculation undergoes the advanced theory that are been used in the applications for the scientific research and the prediction of the logical needs. This method also helps to provide guidelines to scientific research and the development of the inferential statistics. Based on the statistical representation the applied statistics is the combination of inferential statistics and descriptive statistics.

Various Statistical Analysis Methods:

ANOVA test is carried out for analysis when variable data type is categorical. One way ANOVA examines the relationship between variable x which is categorical and response Y which is continuous.

A regression analysis examines a relationship between continuous variable response (Y) and multiple continuous variables x.

Chii Square Method tests whether the distribution of observations for an attribute variable differs for any of the group.

T-test determines whether mean differs from a target value and provides a range of values to include the true mean.

Parameters based on statistical methods:

Mean calculation based on large number of data

= ( Xi) / N

Standard deviation calculation based on the set of data

= sqrt [ (Xi - )2 / N]

Variance calculation based on the set of data

2 = (Xi - )2 / N

Variance proportion calculation based on the set of data

P2 = PQ / n

Correlation coefficient calculation based on the set of data

= [1 / N] * {[(Xi - X) / x] * [(Yi - Y)/ y]

Problem Based Statistical Method:

The class of ten students got the marks in the mathematics. Calculate the Mean, Median, Mode, and Range.

Name of the student Marks in mathematics

John 50

Josh 40

Peter 60

July 91

Sam 65

Lucia 88

George 51

Alex 81

Percy 53

Erwin 91

Calculate the Mean, Median, Range and Mode of the data.

Sol : 1. To find out the Mean:

= (50 + 40 + 60 + 91 + 65 + 88 + 51 + 81 + 53 + 91)/10

= 670 / 10

= 67.

Q 2: To find the Median:

Sol: Write the data in Ascending order first.

40,50,51,53,60,65,81,88,91,91

Take the middle numbers 60 and 65

= 60+ 65/2

= 125 / 2

= 62.5

Q 3: To find the Range:

Sol: = 91 40

= 51.

Q 4: To find the Mode:

Sol: = 91 (occurring twice).
