Basic Computer Knowledge for Real Education
As a long session of interview (around 400 candidates) for selecting teachers for the new DPS trust school Gwalior. I came to know a fact about the computer teachers of India that most of the teachers have good knowledge about subject but that is quite limited to books or we can say that they have the bookish knowledge. The reason may be that they usually do not involve in real project and limited to books, while in the present scenario when most of the schools have introduced Computer Architecture, Visual Basic, DBMS, SQL, HTML, C, C++, JavaScript and even Java which is used in several companies in their middle section.
Teachers are all aware about the general commands and tags of these software and they use to teach all these stuff to students. But the basic problem is that students who have good command on HTML don't know the basic concept why he uses HTML.
The common answer of this question which I got from almost all teachers is that "We use HTML to link up the web pages." While during my web development projects I came to know along the fact that HTML is used for make the text hyper which displayed with references to other text that the reader can immediately access.
Another simple example if we ask the basic difference between C and C++, the teachers start to explain the difference like the input method which is "cin" in C++ and "scanf" in C and the differences between operators of these two. In this situation students are quite confused and their vision is not clear why he use C++ if he has C. While the basic difference is that C is follow the structure of the programming as it's a structure oriented language and C++ is concentrate on object as it's an object oriented programming language, and for getting the large and typical object, structure is quite big and possibility of doing mistakes are quite high while when we emphasis on object it's quite easy to get that if we are not bound to follow the structure.
While some computer architecture's teachers don't even know about disk managers. They don't know how to assemble computers and some don't even able to recognize processors in a assembled computers.
These are some few examples. That's why we need some effective training program for computer teachers so that they became aware about the practical and basic concept, and can guide the students so that they can able to cope up with the advanced courses in their future.
I'm writing a book upon these issues, their solutions and some basic concept of computers which may be beneficial to the teachers.
