Fire is very useful for us in day to day life in more than one ways

, but when uncontrolled and unruly it can turn into a nasty catastrophe in no time. Accidents are not expected, but we can keep ourselves prepared to deal with such situations. That's where fire equipments come into picture. You can incorporate a fire equipment in our office, house, restaurant etc., but Is that it? In case of a fire situation this is where our job begins. Fire can be nastier when it comes about in a public place. We need to know how to handle a fire situation and what steps should be taken to keep it in check. Here we suggest you some important tips that will help you control a fire situation better.

Prevention is better than cure:-

This may read as a clich; however it makes a lot of sense. Preventing a disaster saves lives and avoids financial loss. In Australia, every year 100 fatalities and approximately 3100 injuries happen due to fire. The total estimated cost of fire is approximately 1.14% of Australia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Conduct fire drills biannually:-

Nobody hopes for fire hazards; however, as aforementioned, like an uninvited guest, accidents do not need any invitation. Conducting fire drills once or twice in a year help your staff know their role, should a fire emergency arises.

Installation of smoke detectors and fire safety equipment:-

Always get smoke detectors incorporated in offices and place the fire equipment in such a way that it is accessible in fire situations. Regular maintenance of the fire safety equipment and smoke detectors is very important. Your staff must know how to use a fire equipment. Hang posters with signs and procedures.

Emergency/fire exit:-

Each of your employees must know fire exits. Most of the times, maintenance of fire exits is ignored since these doors are almost never opened. They can be jammed due to prolonged inactivity. Fire exits should be free of any obstructions.

Contacting Fire Station:-

Circulate nearby fire station's contact number among your employees. Train them on what steps should be taken in case of a fire hazard. Elevators should never be used in case of a fire emergency.

Storage of combustible:-

Combustibles should never be placed close to electrical equipments, furnace or any object that triggers fire. One should never play with matches or lighters and smoking must be prohibited around these areas.
