Basic Information About Dubai
When traveling to Dubai, it is a good idea to have some basic information about the city
. Knowing where to go, what to see, and how to experience the culture without offending the locals is necessary for fully enjoying your Dubai vacation experience.
The United Arab Emirates is made up of seven states. Dubai is one of them. It is the second largest of the seven emirates after Abu Dhabi, but has the highest population. The 'Trucial States' established the UAE in 1971 when they received their independence from Britain. In spite of the fact that the country's Supreme Council of Rulers rule Dubai, the city is largely autonomous and it decides most of its developments on its own.
Dubai is on the southern part of the Persian Gulf. Although the earliest known settlement was established around the year 1799, records mention Dubai as early as 1095. Its formal establishment was in the 19th century. Oil was discovered in 1966, resulting in some significant changes. For instance, an influx of workers from different parts of the world caused a 300 percent expansion. A new monetary unit was also set to take the place of the Gulf Rupee. Prior to the discovery of oil, the main sources of revenue were pearling and fishing.
Dubai offers a unique opportunity to see both the old and the new together. It is an ideal destination, not just for tourists on vacation, but also nice business travelers. There are many features and activities that are suitable for all members of the family. Dubai is not only the commercial capital of the UAE but also its tourism capital.
Travel to Dubai is good at any time of year, as the weather is largely sunny. It rains during the winter season, but one can escape the downpours by enjoying the fantastic indoor activities and shopping.
Although the population is largely composed of the Muslim community, there are an increasing number of foreigners with different religious affiliations. Immigrants make up more than 75 percent Dubai's population. Dubai is diverse in culture and remarkably tolerant.
Apart from this cultural and religious diversity, you will enjoy old architectural designs. One such grand piece of architecture is the Dubai Museum. The items you will find here include stone engravings, pottery and skeletons, some of which are more than 4,000 years old.

- Wild Wadi Water Theme Park
The name says it all. If you want the wildest water-park, this is it. The water-park covers an area of twelve acres, where there are 23 rides that will leave you gasping for breath, but doing it with a smile on your face. It takes just 20 minutes to go from the center of the city to the Wild Wadi Water Theme Park.

Dubai has beautiful beaches that offer a wonderful opportunity to cool off and relax after a day of bustling activity.
