Basics Of Bb Gun Safety

BB gun is a great choice as toys for grown up boys

. They are relatively safe, look just like original weapons and can be used for target practice as well as for simple entertainment. Yet you must understand that the BB gun is still shooting projectiles at high velocity and if the guns are not used properly, they may cause injury to the user or to any person who is in the vicinity. If you are using electric BBgun, these are all the more important because such BB guns fire projectiles at much higher velocity than standard guns.

It must be understood that the BB guns need to be treated with the same amount of care and protective handling as is applicable to any real weapon. First and foremost, if you are using a BB gun, always treat it as if it is loaded and ready to fire. This principle must be adhered to even if you are perfectly sure that the gun is not loaded and lever is not cocked. There are two key reasons behind this principle. First is that even if you have removed the magazine from the gun, there is a possibility that the barrel and firing mechanism of the gun still has a stray bullet in it. The second reason is that if you treat the gun as always loaded, it will develop the tendency in you to be careful by default.

The second important principle of BB gun safety is to never point the gun at anything or anyone you do not want injured, damaged or destroyed. The gun must always be pointed in the direction of sky or towards the earth. You should never bring your gun to bear unless you are absolutely ready to shoot at the target. Needless to say that you should be extra careful in this regard when you are using an electric BBgun.

Finally make sure that your finger does not touch the trigger unless you are absolutely ready to shoot and have your sights right and aim locked. Any mistaken pressure at the trigger can have unwanted results because the gun might go off in the wrong direction. If however you keep your trigger finger away from the gun trigger, the possibility of the BB gun going off accidentally is reduced by a very wide margin.

Regardless you are using electric BBgun or a normal BB gun, it is important to be extremely careful.
