All the extra features on today's portable power-hungry gadgets mean they need more and more power to keep running. apple laptop battery.
Energizer seems to have a solution for anything needing the extra juice, including the new Energizer Energy to Go AP1201 for the iPhone 4.
The battery acts as a protective case, with a silicone shell for the device, along with a rechargeable battery (1200 mAh Lithium Polymer Battery) pack built into the case.
Energizer estimates that up to 500 charges can be made with the case. Users can expect up to 5 hours of talk time on 3G, 27 hours of music, 7 hours of video or up to 200 hours of standby time with a charged HP laptop battery.
Charging can be accomplished two ways. The high-speed quick charge serves the iPhone first and then moves to the battery in the case. Or it can be set to simultaneously charge the iPhone and the case.
Energizer's Inductive Charger ($89) is a great wireless option for, as they say, making "consumers' lives easier," which I can confirm is absolutely true after using it for one day.
The charger uses Qi technology, a universal standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium.
This allows charging of most any portable electronic device on a single charging station without the mess of multiple power cords. Devices needing a charge are placed in a specially designed Energizer charging sleeve or door.
Currently available from Energizer ($34.99 each) is a sleeve for the iPhone 3G/3GS and charging door for the BlackBerry curve 8900.
The sleeve for the iPhone not only acts as a connection for the charge but also as a protective case. The door for the curve replaces the existing back of the BlackBerry to make it Qi-enabled.
Other qualified devices include cameras, MP3 players and cell phones as long as they are 5 watts or less. Up to three devices can be charged simultaneously on the charger or with the built-in USB port.
Energizer plans to launch an iPhone 4 charging sleeve along with technology for many other devices in the coming months.
In the future most devices will have the Qi technology built into the device so you can place an item needing a charge right on the charging matt, but until then you need to get a charging sleeve to that device.
While the iPad is a great device, it's also popular for its portable size and The Targus Spruce Mini Messenger for iPad is great way to carry around the expensive device.
The main storage compartment is padding for protection and extra zippered pockets let you store cables, headphones or other needed accessories.
Users can carry it by hand, over-the-shoulder or even stuff it into many of today's oversized computer bags.
The bag weighs just over 14 ounces and is constructed with polyester material created from recycled plastic bottles.
It's available in Black with Green Accents for $39.99
Monsters iClarityHD portable Bluetooth 2.0 speaker creates a hands-free situation most anywhere.
The speaker can be used as a standard for any Bluetooth enabled cell phone for both ends of the conversation since it has a built-in noise-canceling microphone.
Once you pair your device with the speaker, there really isn't anything else to do besides control the volume.
In addition, it works great as a portable speaker to broadcast stereo sound from an iPad, iPhone, iPod or others wirelessly with Bluetooth or wired with the 3.5mm headphone port.
A rechargeable Lithium Ion battery should give you about five hours of use before charging it with the included mini USB charging cable.
I recently tested out the BlackBerry Torch featuring the new BlackBerry 6 operation system and it won me over in seconds.
Being a BlackBerry user for years, I was never really happy with any of the operating systems although version 5 was a great step forward.
The Torch has a touch screen on its 3.2-inch display (480 x 360), which slides open for a full standard BlackBerry keyboard. Even though it has moving parts, the construction feels very solid.
Controls on the display give easy and instant access to email, text messages and contacts. With a simple touch of the menu key everything else is displayed, including any downloaded BlackBerry apps.
All in all, any BlackBerry users will love how easy the phone is to maneuver and how responsive it is to any command.
The Bluetooth-enabled device has the standard volume control, 3.5mm headphone jack and a user-programmable key on the right side. A USB connection is on the left.
Those who use the camera feature will like the quality (although still at cell phone standards) of the 5-megapixel unit. It does have a flash, which is something my BlackBerry Curve doesn't have.
Other features include a microSD slot to use the included 4GB memory card, which can be upgraded up to 32GB and 512MB of RAM.
The Torch is available with AT&T, which recently cut the price in half to $99.99 with a two- year contract.
