Battling Cervical Cancer with Green Tea Based on Scientific Studies

According to the research at the Capital Medical University in Beijing, scientists have found that epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a compound found abundantly in green tea, is able to kill cervical cancer cells and prevent them from forming. The authors of the study state that EGCG "has shown its anti-tumor ability and perhaps as potential regimen for cancer patients." 2 Another report, "Protective effects of green tea extracts (polyphenon E and EGCG) on human cervical lesions" by Ahn, W-S et.al, the authors suggest that green tea extracts (polyphenon E and EGCG) with anti-cancer properties might be an effective chemopreventive option for preventing cervical dysplasia from progressing to a more severe stage of cervical neoplasia. 3
