Bauxite is a rock composed mainly of aluminum oxide and aluminum hydroxide minerals

. These might include: gibbsite, boehmite and diaspore. Bauxite ore is the primary aluminum ore, and the producer usually use the bayer process to extract alumina from the bauxite ore. Bauxites are typically classified according to their intended commercial application: abrasive, cement, chemical, metallurgical, refractory, etc. Bauxite is used to make aluminum, primary aluminum, extrusion billet, rolling slab, wire rod and so on. It is the primary source of aluminum. Aluminum comes from Canada, China, India, Brazil, Australia, Guinea, Jamaica and Russia.

Before the bauxite ore processing, the bauxite ore is firstly blasted and then loaded using hydraulic excavators into haul trucks for transport to the mine stockpiles. Bauxite does not require complex processing because most of the bauxite mined is of an acceptable grade or can be improved by a relatively simple and inexpensive process of removing clay.

The bauxite layer varies from two meters to 12 metres deep. The open pit bauxite ore is easy to dig out of the ground. The production begins with the extraction of bauxite ore, the bauxite ore is then taken to a dump station for transportation to the processing plant (called a beneficiation plant) by rail and belt conveyor. At the beneficiation plant, the bauxite is crushed, screened and washed to remove fine particles. It is then placed on stockpiles, which are loaded onto ships or be refined into alumina. The noise from blasting, excavation, transport and crushing operations is minimised to avoid any disruptive impacts when mining operations are close to farming properties.
