Berlin is soon to be home to a brand new music festival designed to bring the hottest new sounds to the German capital each and every year

. The Berlin Music Week is to kick off in September 2010 and it will be an updated and revamped version of the Popkomm festival that used to take place in the city in October. The new and improved festival hopes to bring together all styles and genres of music to create a super-event to appeal to all types of music industry bodies and fans.

Already a city well known for its musical credentials and home to a wide variety of venues and famous clubs, Berlin is a great destination for music lovers all year round, but the festival is sure to prove a great draw for the capital. The programme - which is supported by the senate - plans to feature music from countries all around the world as well as a variety of local and German bands, with about 70 performers spread over three stages expected to perform.

With top acts such as Fever Ray, Atari Teenage Riot, Fatboy Slim and The Editors already confirmed, the festival has certainly been successful in drawing top performers and organisers seem to be on the right track for attracting plenty of discerning music fans too - if you want to be a part of the first ever Berlin Music Week, it's probably a good idea to secure your tickets and accommodation as soon as possible.
