Menorca has some of the most stunning beaches in Spain

. Most have mainly been untouched with ideal coves that are screened off by cliffs with undisturbed pine forests meeting the clear warm waters and golden sands. Menorca has the most beaches out of all the Balearic Islands; in fact it has more Beaches than all the other Balearic Islands put together. This is probably the most popular beach on the island; it is certainly popular with British families although it does have a quiet atmosphere and peaceful surroundings.

Just a 20 minute from Cala Santa Galdana is the Cala Mitjana, you find this little unknown cove with its low white cliffs sheltered by pine trees. This beach offers ideal conditions for swimming and snorkelling; this is also a place which you can reserve so if you want a slice of Menorca and have money then you can make Cala Mitjana yours for a short period of time. You have to remember that these beaches are still in a natural state so its best to come well prepared as there are no facilities.


Es Grau is a stunning horseshoe bay which has golden sands that are baked by sand dunes that lead into shady pine forests. This is a beach that is located near to a natural wetland reserve of Albufera, where you will find various wild birds. Here you find boat trips available that go to the little islet of Colom a place with even more secluded sands can be found. Es Grau can be found on the east side of the island and is only a short drive away from the capital.

Son Bou is a long beach that is littered with sand dunes, features freshwater marshes that are filled with ducks and a lagoon nearby. This beach has excellent water sports facilities that are available to everyone but you have to be careful and check if the conditions are right for swimming and doing various other activities as it can be dangerous at times. Son Bou is located to the west of the island, just to the south of Alaior. This is a beach that has a dedicated area for nude sun bathers so if you're a free spirit it can cater to your needs. Also keep an eye out for the caves on the way to Son Bou as these have provided shelter to people for hundreds if not thousands of years.

There are other beaches such as Cala Pregonda,Cala d'Algaiarens and Cala en Turqueta that each have their own quirks that will be of interest of you these are just examples of the brilliant beaches on this islands.
