It's becoming more and more common for airlines to charge extra for baggage either

in excess of a particular weight, or when you carry on more than one bag. In the USA, it's a sad fact that most American airlines are now charging passengers for even their first suitcase - and the UK is slowly starting to catch up with this undesirable practice.

While it's understandable that, as the recession continues to grip every industry - and it's true that several airlines have been forced to close and claim bankruptcy - airlines must seek out alternative ways to up their profits, for the customers travelling with them who may not be expecting extra, seemingly unfair charges, the costs are both upsetting and irritating. Budget flights with cheap airlines suddenly become not so inexpensive, and the sudden demand for even more cash when we're standing at the front of the check in line is an unjust surprise - it's not as if you can say no and simply not get your flight, is it? By adding these baggage charges, airlines are almost tricking their customers at the last minute, but what can you do? It's either pay the fees or don't fly at all, right?

Perhaps not. Some clever individuals have been searching for ways to beat the system and avoid the fees whilst merrily thumbing their nose at the sneaky airlines that determine to cheat them out of at least another twenty-five quid. There are several ways to avoid paying charges, from learning how to slim down your belongings enough so that you stay below the weight allowance or can tuck all of it into your carry on hand luggage, as well as some incredibly innovative ideas.

Several people have succeeded at beating the airline by wearing tactically-designed jackets. If you know where to look, you can find some jackets designed perhaps for fishing or hunting that are simply crammed with pockets. These aren't just any pockets - some people claim to fit their laptop computer inside their jackets with plenty of room to spare. As there's no limit to the weight of people as they board the plane, it's the perfect way to up your luggage without getting caught out.

If you do decide to check the mens clothing department for one such jacket, just bear in mind that airport rules still apply: don't take too much liquid or any sharp objects otherwise you're likely to get pulled over at the barrier!
