Become A Full-time Work From Home Medical Transcriptionist

I want to become a medical transcriptionist because

, throughout my early years, I have worked as a word processor and/or legal secretary. I have always felt proud of the fact that I can accurately type over 100 words per minute. Now that I am nearing retirement age, I would like a career in which I can still use my typing and proofreading skills. For these reasons, I believe working as a medical transcriptionist would be ideal for me. Some of the advantages I consider working as a medical transcriptionist is the ability to work full-time at home or part-time in a medical office or hospital, if I choose. The sooner I start my training as a medical transcriptionist, the sooner I will be ready to begin working as a medical transcriptionist when I retire.

What specifically influenced me in deciding to train with Future MT is the fact that I was searching the internet for medical transcription textbooks to begin my training as a medical transcriptionist, when your website popped up on my computer. What impressed me was the scholarships offered on your website and the free textbook, so I decided to inquire further. There are so many schools and online courses to choose from, but they are too expensive for me. Some of the educational and career goals that I would like to achieve in the medical transcription industry is to become a full-time work from home medical transcriptionist, or part-time in a medical office or hospital, if I choose. I will soon retire and I would like to continue working in a field that I am accustomed to, that is medical record jobs. I did not know that I could become a Certified Medical Transcriptionist. I assume as a certified medical transcriptionist, I can also earn more than expected. Two years ago, I worked for a sole practitioner for approximately 10 years as a word processor and legal secretary; however, he passed away unexpectedly. Although I have worked continuously since then as a legal secretary and/or paralegal, I am earning substantially less than I was previously. In this recession, I have been very fortunate but as I near retirement age, I am afraid that it will become more difficult for me to seek employment. Therefore, I would like to prepare myself for retirement but desire to continue working. As unbelievable as it sounds, I miss working as a word processor and want to get back into that field. I remembered when I worked in a large word processing center, everyone waited until I arrived at work to give me all the transcription projects because no one wanted to transcribe tapes. As a medical transcriptionist, I would once again be typing all day as I did when I was a word processor. In addition, I can work my own hours. Who knows, maybe in the future, I can start a small business of my own as a medical transcriptionist.
