Most people want to be be an attorney because they want to help others and it also can help them make a good living. With their being so many different areas in regards to practicing law from bankruptcy, personal injury, divorce and the list goes on and on, there are many different areas that people can practice in. The big thing that separates just anyone from becoming a lawyer is how difficult it is to become a licensed attorney and how hard it is to become a good attorney. Being a lawyer is not easy and it is nothing like you see on TV. Yes it has its glamorous side but it also takes a lot of work. One of the first things that you need to think about if you want to become a lawyer is all the schooling you will need. You will need to do well and get your undergraduate degree and then hope to get into a good law school. Once there you will have to go through more years of schooling and again need to do well. One of the drawbacks from all of this schooling is the cost. Unless you are from a well off family you can expect to get some debt from all of this schooling and it could be years until you are able to pay it off. After schooling the next thing that you need to worry about is joining a firm. For the top firms every year there are new other people vying for a couple of spot. You need to be prepared for the interview and expect a lot of competition. This by itself will be extremely stressful because you know that if you get matched up with a top firm you could be set in regards to your career. If you get picked up a top law firm now comes the hard part of being an actual lawyer. It will take a lot work and also practice. You need to hone your skills for the court room and always make sure that you are prepared.
Becoming an attorney is not easy but if you really want to be one you can do it with a lot of hard work.
