Been Smoking Forever? You Can Still Stop Smoking Today
A lot of people have the willpower to just drop that cigarette pack and vow never to smoke again. This is usually easier for people who are casual or social smokers but it's very hard for the seasoned smoker.For the average addicted cigarette smoker, which is someone who smokes several or more cigarettes a day and craves for a smoke, it is usually a great deal harder. Just because you may have a long smoking history however, it does not mean that you cannot get over this habit and start to live a healthier life. Before we go any further let me tell you that I smoked for more than twenty years. I never thought I could stop, until eventually I changed my way of thinking. But I can tell you now, it's going to be so worth it to persevere and quit smoking because you will look and feel so much better. Now if you have decided you do want to quit, you have many choices available which includes imitation cigarettes, gum, patches and hypnotherapy. I tried imitation cigarettes but quite frankly it did nothing for me except to make me feel frustrated until eventually they were consigned to the bin. You may feel otherwise, this was just my experience.Gum and patches release a small amount of nicotine into the body which has the effect of slowly weaning you off this dreadful habit. It's like stopping smoking slowly. Many people find comfort in numbers and by that I mean a support group. You have the chance to meet like minded people who are going through the same massive problem as you. It's a nice supportive feeling knowing that there are others you can rely on if the going gets tough, and it will help to boost your confidence and give you optimism when you need it most. This definitely helps a lot of folks. You know the old saying: Strength in numbers. As mentioned earlier if you are brave and determined enough to just throw away the packet, let me reassure you that statistics prove people who quit in this way are less likely to start up smoking again afterwards. Now that's powerful.A lot of smokers go through therapy sessions when they want to quit smoking. This was my preferred way and I can thoroughly recommend it. Hypnotherapy changes the way you think. (don't get confused with Hypnotism, its different).I want to put this in very simple terms so please humor me. Let me ask you a question: When you put on your shirt or top which arm goes into the sleeve first, left or right? And when you put on the shirt or top tomorrow will it be the same arm that goes into the sleeve first or the opposite arm. Of course it's the same one; it's always the same because it's a habit. You do it without thinking. Your subconscious mind tells your brain what to do automatically.You reach for a cigarette automatically because your brain tells you it's time for another shot of nicotine. Hypnotherapy changes your way of thinking about cigarettes, it changes your subconscious. It removes the habit of reaching for a cigarette. I found it absolutely awesome. After more than twenty cigarettes a day for more than twenty years, I stopped.
