There are 6 major parts of the guitar that need to be touched on. The first component is the headstock. This is the part of your guitar attached to the slimmer end of the neck. On it you can see the second important parts of a functioning guitar, known as the tuners. Inevitably you will have to use them to get your guitar sounding right many times in your playing career. Next is the neck itself. You can see the strings following the neck all the way down to the body, the fourth important part of your guitar. And the strings are connected at the bottom to the bridge. Last, but not least is the sound hole. When you strum the strings over the sound hole, the noise reverberates in the body of the guitar creating music we commonly associate with the guitar.

To play the guitar correctly you ought to have some sort of strap to keep the instrument propped upright on your lap, or in front of your abdomen if you are standing when playing. If you are right handed, you hold the bottom side of the neck with your left hand. With the fingers on this hand you will hold down certain strings to create chords when you are strumming.
