Being Fashionable is So Expensive?
"I love fashion, but am on a budget. I get so frustrated because I want to look stylish but I feel like I can only afford half of the outfit I want. I suppose I am just not shopping in the right places, or buying the right things. Any suggestions? "many people have such problem.
Actually, being fashionable does NOT require a big budget! One of my favorite stores happens to also be one of the cheapest ones I shop at- www.ourdressshop.com! They are so reasonable, especially when you hit a big sale. I don't know what your personal style or budget is, but I am a single mom who loves fashion but doesn't have a ton to spend on it. I love the sale/clearance racks at Gap, Banana Republic, Macy's.
Stock up on major clearance sales during Feb/March/August, stores such as Nordstrom, Banana Republic, Express and the Limited during that time are great for bargains, and be careful to really check out fabrics and how items are stitched. Check labels for material, avoid polyester as much as possible. Even Forever 21, depending on the material, you can make look more sophisticated and chic, depending on what you pair it with. I love 7 for All Mankind jeans and buy them when they're on sale, Citizen, Joe, Frankie B's are all staples and well worth the price, so getting them 60-75% off is a steal. Nordstrom's juniors department has IT jeans that fit non junior bodies :) And try to stay classic. If you want trend, stick to stores like Forever 21 and H&M, you can spend 25.00 on a shirt that will go out of style in 6 months and it's okay. But 1 major fashion rule is, do NOT buy cheap shoes. Again, stock up during sales, but buy quality shoes. Via Spiga, Charles David and great brands that are not super expensive, but when on sale, u get 200 dollar shoes for 50 bucks and that's worth it. Nine West makes great shoes and so does Aldo. Also too, a great bag, no cheap PVC that will start to wear in 3 months. My " youngest" Louis V. is 8 years old, i have three and they are in the best condition. Also have a few leather hobos and totes from various lower brands, paid between 250-450, but they're classic and i dont need to buy a new bag every 6 months to stay in style. The last one i bought was a year and a half ago. So wait for sales, spending the money on a few quality pair of jeans, pants and shoes means that you wont have to go out in 6 months for more. And then interchange with cheaper, carefully picked trendy tops that way you'll look fabulous and in style.
