The use of degreasers to remove petroleum-based products from the floor will be needed as well as a thorough rinsing to insure all detergents and cleaning products are cleaned off the surface before applying paint. Using fans to speed the drying process may seem like a good idea, but they will also blow dust and dirt around the cleaned floor.

Once painting garage floor has been completed, the use of a quality garage floor finish is highly recommended to help protect the new paint job. The finish should not be applied until the paint has thoroughly dried and before any vehicles have been allowed on the newly painted floor. There are different application methods used for painting garage floor concrete from rollers to sprayers, but regardless of the process, the paint needs to be uniform across the floor to provide the desired appearance.
