Belarus expo in Shanghai attended by over 4.5m people

Nearly 7 million people are expected to see the Belarusian exhibits by the end of the World EXPO 2010 (30 October), Yuri Lositsky said. The World EXPO has already been attended by over 48 million people.

Belarus' pavilion is 1,000 square meters, 500 square meters of them have been allocated by the Chinese side on a gratuitous basis. On the roof of the pavilion there is a large circle, with a small flying stork projected with the help of holograms. The pavilion has a souvenir shop of the Belarusuvelirtorg company. Souvenirs made of birch bark, straw, wooden caskets incrusted with straw, the products of the Neman Glass Works and the Dobrush Porcelain Factory, Luch watches are in the greatest demand. Small souvenirs such as wooden figurines of an auroch or a stork, symbols of Belarus are also popular. "Every second visitor of the Belarusian pavilion leaves it with a purchase," Yuri Lositsky said.

On 1 October, the Belarusian pavilion launched a quiz Learn Belarus for the students and young people of China. It includes questions about the history and culture of the Belarusian state. The winners will receive a memorable silver medal with the World EXPO 2010 symbols issued by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

Large delegations from the Gomel, Brest and Vitebsk regions have already visited the Belarusian pavilion. In September the exhibition received delegations from the Mogilev, Minsk and Grodno regions, which held talks with various Chinese territorial authorities to conclude long-term trade and economic cooperation agreements. Business matchmaking sessions were held too.
