Belfast Plumbing - Find Good Plumbers In Belfast
How to find a good plumber in the Belfast area
You have decided to hire a plumber. Whether you want to fix a leaky pipe or
install a gas-fired heating system, there are many things to consider when
making this important decision.
Some good questions to ask:
Is the plumber polite and communicative?
This is a very important consideration. The entire experience, from beginning to end, needs to be as stress free as possible. Plus if the plumber enjoys his/her job the quality and attention to details will be better. Hopefully this will be the first question you ask. If the answer to this question is no then do not go any further, you do not want to work with that person.
Does the plumber smoke?
If you are a non-smoker and/or you are not comfortable with that ask around for another plumber. Smoking during a professional appointment is unprofessional and disrespectful, so look out for that.
How to Hire a Plumber
Think about the last time you purchased a car. Chances are you did not go to the yellow pages, choose a trader at random, or buy from the first shop you
visited. Many times, though, this scenario describes the way some people find a plumber -- they look in the phone book and call the one with the largest ad or the first one listed. But much like purchasing a good car, finding a qualified plumber requires research and comparison shopping.
Ask Questions
WHAT AREAS DO THEY COVER?
Make sure the plumber covers the area you live in. Some people overlook this little detail and end up paying extra for that.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
It is always good to ask how long the plumber thinks it will take to finish the job, so you can plan your day around it.
WHAT IS HIS/HER HOURLY RATE?
Make sure you know exactly how much the plumber charges per hour, and if they charge extra for evening/weekends, so there are no surprises later on. Some professionals might charge a certain amount per repair/installment instead of charging an hourly rate. Either way, ask before committing yourself.
Ask For a Quote
Call at least 3 plumbers and ask for a quote. Don't just go for the first ad you find in the yellow pages. Shop around and make sure you chose the best possible balance between price and quality. Quotes may vary as much as 70% for the same job.
Things to Look For in a Qualified Plumber
There are a number of qualifications that can set a professional plumber apart.
* Qualification -- Be sure that the prospective professional you are considering is fully qualified.
Your selected plumber should be able to tell you if they have a license and what certificates they hold.
* Professional and Friendly Approach -- Remember to ask your friends and family for references.
* Price -- A good plumber doesn't have to cost the Earth!
Safety Commitment
Accidents can happen to anyone, anywhere. So ask your prospective candidate about their insurance policy. Again if a plumber is good at his job he or she will pay attention to detail and be aware of any hazards when working.
TIPS
* Ask a number of plumbers for a quote and discard the cheapest and most expensive options. The cheapest will have underestimated and will sting you for it later with hidden charges and the most expensive doesn't really want your business, probably because they have work up to their eyeballs already.
* Get your quotes in writing! That way you won't be charged extra (hidden costs) at the end of the day. The plumber can't charge you a penny more than the quote he gave you in writing.
