Benefits Of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is an art which has been practiced for centuries

. It seems like a new fad now but the fact is that people have been practicing aromatherapy for many hundreds of years. Originally essential or natural fragrances were used but we developed the practice nowadays to the point where fragrances are synthetically created.

Aroma has always been known to have beneficial effects on the health and on mood. We use aroma to affect the attitudes of others when we wear perfumes or colognes so we are in effect practicing what people have practiced for quite a long time. When you smell a fragrance or aroma what you are actually doing is ingesting molecules of the actual product. Different substances can affect your body differently. Some fragrances such as lavender are known for their relaxing qualities. Others such as patchouli are best known for their stimulating effects.

One of the many ways to use aromatherapy products is in the bath. Many people will add a few drops of the essential or aromatic oil to a hot bath for added benefits. The hot water and vapor of steam serve to carry the fragrance or essence of the product and thus enhances its ingestion. Heat activates and excites the molecules of the essential oil which makes it much more effective. Some people will place the oil in a simmering pot. Simmering pots can be either store bought or home made. Either type works just fine as long as you have heat. Some will use the scented potpourri oils to freshen the air of their home, and others may simmer essential oils for the health and well being benefits that they offer.

I have written many articles about massage, which is yet another way to use scented oil products. There are as many ways to combine different types of oils for massage as your imagination can give you. The type of oil that you will use depends on the effect that you want to create. You can combine essential oils, or you can mix essential oils with perfume or cologne oils. I tell my customers to determine the effect that you want to create and design your own combination of oils for massage. You can use massage to relax, or rejuvenate. You should also create an environment which will serve to enhance the effect of the massage that you desire to give.

There have been studies which show that you can use fragrances to control mood, which many of the larger department stores do quite effectively. Vanilla may be released into the atmosphere to cause customers to relax as they enter the establishment. A relaxed customer will gladly spend money. I like to use fragrance in my retail store to control the mood since I like to present a friendly, low sales pressure type of atmosphere in my store. I sell so many of the fragrances here from the store that the scent from each one combines to give a wonderful effect. When customers ask me the name of the scent I tell them that it is my own special blend, which it is. This immediately puts us on good footing and opens the door for business. Although I never attempt to push sales off on my customers many times they will make various purchases just because of the levity of the atmosphere.

Many of my customers will experiment with various fragrances until they come up with a signature fragrance all their own. They wont disclose the different fragrances that they used to create their signature so it remains unique to them. We have also designed our own signature fragrance for the retail store.
