Some spas use these chemicals as well, but unless under physician supervision, are limited by the concentration of the peeling agent to apply. Only physicians can apply the higher concentration and more effective agents. Overall this is a mild treatment that is ideal for many clients.

Medium Chemical Peel

These peels are more powerful than superficial peels because the peeling agenet are moderately more severe and consequently, do more. After a medium chemical peel you will notice a significant difference in the look and feel of your skin. These are slightly more severe than light chemical peels and are can only be repeated every 6 months, if at all. This chemical peel removes both the epidermis and the dermis (middle layer of skin). Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and Jessners peels are the most well know types f medium skin peels. These peels can stil be done without anesthesia, but do sting a little more when applied. However, a small hand held fan and cold compresses mitigate the discomfort.

Deep Chemical Peel

Deep chemical peels offer the most dramatic difference in skin and are ideal for deep wrinkles, scarring, and even pre-cancerous growths. Phenol is the chemical that is normally used for these peels. These peels penetrate straight down to the lower dermal of your skin. Since this chemical peel is slightly more invasive, patients must be given an anesthetic and sedative for this procedure. Recovery time after this procedure lasts longer than light or medium peels. The results are quite dramatic
