It's what makes them so much fun. In boxing, for instance, most writers, media pundits, and also fans, put Muhammad Ali at the top of the list at number one. Ali fought 61 times. Compared to Sugar Ray Robinson, who fought over 200 professional fights, Ali would fail in comparison. However, Muhammad Ali's effect on the sport, and the community, will never be matched again. There were points in Ali's career where one could have argued that he was the most popular man on earth. But most importantly, and with great certainty, comes this: during Ali's peak years, boxing was the most popular sport in the USA, and the World. And that was no coincidence.
