Best Fabrics For Uniform Shirts
Chances are that if you are on the hunt for quality
, affordable uniform shirts for your restaurant or business, you will first and foremost want to choose a fabric that is comfortable. The word Comfortable includes so many different aspects, such as fit and breathability. There are tons of fabrics that can be used to make uniform shirts, but only some of them are really suitable for different types of uses and benefits. IF you are in the market for new apparel for your business but are not sure what type of fabric to use, here are a few guidelines for you to help you out.
The most common type of fabric is cotton, which you may have already guessed. Also popular is a cotton/poly blend. These are probably the most breathable of fabrics, and for most employees they are also the most comfortable. Wool would be much to warm for just about any business, unless yours was in the middle of a taiga environment. In addition to that, many people are actually allergic to wool, and those that are not will even tell you that it is still itchy on their skin, causing uncomfortable irritation.
Sometimes polyester has the same effects on peoples skin, but this is much less so than with wool. Also, polyester can be manufactured and processed in many different ways, some of which produce very soft fabrics. One of the worst materials for uniform shirts of any kind for any reason is silk. Although silk is thought to be smooth and luxurious when it comes to bed linens, when shirts are made of silk or even satin, the person quickly finds that their skin does not breathe well, causing them to sweat even if they do not feel warm. The reason for this is that air cannot pass through this material. Your employees will probably be so uncomfortable in silk that you will not last a week with them wearing it so do not even try it!
Make sure that you choose a material for your employees that is stain resistant, especially if you are shopping for apparel for chefs or cooks. Choosing stain resistant clothing for waiters and other people that work directly with the public is not a bad idea either, just to make cleaning and laundering much easier on them and on you. Not only that, but when you are able to remove stains easily from uniform shirts, they will last longer before you have to pay to replace them. This of course will save you a whole bunch of money in the long run on your uniform shirts for your business.
