In the start of the year 2007, Apple Inc. launched fantastic multimedia smart phone named as Iphone. Main features of this phone included touch-screen, text messaging, ability to play media files, camera, and many internet options including browsing, e-mail, and Wi-Fi connectivity etc.

In an attempt to make the use of iphone simpler and advantageous for the users, iphone applications were introduced. In mid 2008, the third part applications App Store service of Apple Inc. were launched to enable the users to download applications. Till now, about 200,000 applications are launched on the App store, games, references, GPS navigation, various social networking websites and advertising for films and shows are included in these applications. Depending upon the application, they are either available for free or at a marginal cost. These applications can either be transferred directly to the phone or downloaded on the computer through the iTunes service.

The applications launched by Apple comprise of various business applications, games, entertainment and educational applications. Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D is occupying the top position among the most popular applications purchased by the users. The most downloaded free applications concluded Facebook as the number 1 and google earth as number 2.

According to the results of the survey in 2009 it was concluded that EA mobile is the creator of 9 applications among the top 30 purchased applications. Among the top 30 list, the most popular game applications included games like Real Racing and Flight Control. Also, many navigation apps also built up the list of the same. Others applications coining up the best iphone apps also included Chef Jamie Oliver's 20 minute means app and Smule's I Am T-Pain. The list also included the Arsenal FC's official app and Sling Media's Sling Player Mobile applications.
