Best Markets In London
Abbey Mills Market
Abbey Mills Market
Hang out in Merton Abbey Mills market for a relaxing weekend in South London and have a look at the handmade goods, antiques, jewellery and crafts. In the old watermill they still have a working pottery. It's lovely to visit for unusual presents! There's even a little textile museum attached recording the site's history. Abbey Mills is close to Colliers Wood Tube station on the Northern Line.
Camden Market
Camden Lock Market is next to the Grand Union Canal in and out of old buildings, and has 3 yards surrounding the old Victorian Market Hall. The market has seen a major facelift over the past few years, but still got an underground vibe. You can buy beautiful arts and crafts, antiques, second-hand goods, jewellery, vintage clothes...They have alternative range of food choices-stalls and local restaurants where you can hang and chill beside the canal. It is open all week, but Saturdays and Sundays are the main days. Check out the music in the local pubs when you're tired of shopping! It's a real scene here. Camden Lock Market is 5 min from Camden Town Tube station on the Northern Line.
Brick Lane Market
If you want the real London, go down to the famous Brick Lane market, in London's East End! There's a lively atmosphere where stores and all kinds of stalls sell second-hand goods amongst Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants and trendy bars. Sadly, it's only on Sundays but there are lots of other things going on in Brick Lane all week, not to mention a great selection of Indian food. Liverpool St is the closest tube, which connects to Circle, District, Metripolitain and central lines.
Greenwich Market
Head to historic Greenwich for some history and for a little less known market. Shop in the great market, open mostly Wednesday through Sundays, where you can buy unique arts and crafts, antiques and collectibles as interesting
Leadenhall Market
If you're in the City of London spend some time in Leadenhall Market-it's magical! Stroll under Victorian vaulted and glass-roofed ceilings while checking out the cafes and restaurants and shops. Have a drink in the Lamb Tavern, another site of local historical interest.
Covent Garden
There are a lot of young people and tourists here, but still worth a visit. There has been a market here for several hundred years- now there are trendy restaurants, pubs and shops along the pedestrian square. It is a great place to hangout day or night. There are always street entertainers (jugglers, mimes, buskers) here, giving the area a real party atmosphere-worth a look. Nearest tube, you guessed Covent Garden.
