Best Mlm Practice - Lead By Example

When I say that leading by example is one of the best mlm practices out there many would say - duh!! I've heard that a thousand times

. While this may be true, how many of those people actually practice this fundamental leadership principle?

If these people knew that all the best mlm leaders have led by example then maybe their tune would change - or maybe not. I don't think that most people who start a mlm business realize the importance of leading by example. They also don't realize why it's even more important in the mlm industry than anywhere else.

The reason that leading by example is one of the best mlm practices is that people will only do what you do, not what you say. In my experience they only do about half of what you do.

Let's apply this to mlm. Your work habit consists of 2 hours a day of marketing online to generate warm leads, 4 days a week. In your marketing efforts, you don't promote with video, because you're shy in front of the camera. You also spend 1 hour, 3 times a week making prospecting and follow up phone calls. Add another 3 hours. You spend a total of about 10-12 hours working your business each week. You are doing the minimal work that your mentor taught you to do.

Now you sponsor Joe. Joe will follow your lead. You tell Joe that video marketing is hot and will boost his traffic to his website. Joe begins marketing, but he won't work with video even though you "sold" him on it all day. You explained all of the benefits from it. You told him how it was the latest trend in online marketing. You even told him all the best mlm leaders were doing it. You could tell him to do it until you were blue in the face, but he still would only do what you did.

Not only that, but Joe would only do about half the volume of work you did. So Joe only puts in five or six hours per week, and he doesn't use video to maximize his marketing. Is it any wonder that he doesn't get the results you promised? Why are you suprised when he quits after a few weeks?

This is YOUR responsibility as a business leader. You must conquer fear and do whatever it takes if you want to have the best mlm business you can. Stop being a follower. This is what you were taught all through school and in your job. Stop doing the minimal just to get by.

If you want yours to be the best mlm business you must comply. When you do the minimal effort just to meet a quota your upline gave you then what do you think your downline will do? That's right. They will only do half. This won't get the job done. They will quit, and you will have no business.

Now maybe you are beginning to see why leading by example is so important in the mlm industry.

While leading by example is preached throughout our industry by all of the best mlm leaders, this rule is broken the most.

Mlm owners need to change their thinking and BE the example if they want to have prosperous downline. They must do twice the work that they expect from their group. This is also one of the easiest ways to gain respect and credibility from their team. You can even apply this to your job and instantly have a following even if you're not technically the boss. That's called being an informal leader.
