Best Moving and Relocation Tips

Are you interested in smart moving tips? These relocation and packing tips can help you whether you are in India, US or any part of the world.

Moving can be quite a daunting task if you are moving locally, coast to coast or even overseas. A research on moving companies in New York has revealed that packing is one of the stress contributors to the process of moving. Packing is a process which reflects on how you organize things. Here are some smart tips which can off-set some of your stress when you move and especially during the packing process:

1. Pack in advance. If you have three televisions sets and two music systems, start packing the ones that you do not use. You can very well do with a music system and a television for the rest of the remaining days of your stay in the old home which can be barely a month. This means that packing should be initiated a month before the actual move.

2. Items of extraordinary high value like important documents, antique pieces and fragile items must not be given to the movers. Pack them properly and seal them securely. Important papers and documents like birth-certificates, rental papers of the new home, your financial documents and bill-receipts should be appropriately filed and kept in a folder, which should be with you or your family member at all times.

3. Insist on keeping things together when movers are packing boxes. Little or loose parts should be attached or stuck to the item they belong to with a tape or hard glue. You can keep things like cords in a ziplock bag and link it to the underside of the item, of which they are a part. Try to pair items of the same type together or connect a smaller part to the mother item. You can keep all the cords, cables, nails, detached important pieces of an appliance and label them accordingly before putting them in a box.

4. Every family member should stack items of their interest in different colored boxes and list the contents as well. You can even name these boxes.

5. You should make a list of the number of the boxes that you will be packing and the content therein. You can either take a print-out of the kind of boxes with columns for the items to be packed and the quantity. You can even keep a record of the items that you pack in a big notebook.
