Anyone who goes to San Diego on vacation is going to want to know the sights and

attractions that are available so they can be sure that they do not miss the best things to do in San Diego. It should come as no surprise that there are hundreds of things to do, so you need a heads up about some of the most popular, some of the most fascinating and some of the most worth while. Here is a list of just a few of the best things to do in San Diego:

Coronado Island is always popular with visitors. The isthmus of Coronado has an upmarket resort community with many beautiful beaches, including the award winning Silver Strand State Beach. There are many hotels, opportunities to enjoy outdoor dining, boutiques and shops there as well as the Museum of History and Art. Petco Park is another popular tourist destination that many residents frequent as well. It is of course the home of the San Diego Padres and has been described as architecturally magnificent. It just opened up in 2004 and immediately became known as the Worlds Best Ballpark in Americas Finest City.

You absolutely do not want to miss Sea World, which is of course one of the best things to do in San Diego. This is the killer whale Shamus home, right on the shores of Mission Bay. Sea World and Shamu has become synonymous with the city, and the attraction is a leader in marine conservation as well.

Birch Aquarium at Scripps is a place where you are going to be able to get up close with the animals there, and you will want to leave yourself enough time to really enjoy them all. The Scripps Institution of Oceanography has been working from there for over a century, and the modern aquarium opened up in 1992.

One of the most fun things to do in the city is to take a gondola ride with Coronado Cays Gondola Rides. You can float along on a gondola ride through the Coronado Cays Canals, in an hour long guided tour while you relax in a genuine 36 foot long Venetian gondola. After that, you should also check out the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. The track opened back in 1937 and is rich with history. It was the home of the famous Seabiscuit Ligaroti race, and is a playground of sorts for the elite of Hollywood today. It is a very beautiful place, with very well manicured lawns and gorgeous Spanish style architecture.
