I personally believe that to deal with social anxiety means that we have to deal with our inner image of ourselves. Self-confidence. I say that we need our self-confidence more over self-worth because most of us think only of the things that we are good at when we think of self-worth. Self-esteem is what our minds think that we are worthy of. Our self-confidence is much more than that.

Self-confidence is being able to accept everything about yourself. Even the parts that you feel aren't good enough. Even your social anxiety. By being able to accept even the things you would consider to be negative in your life, you are accepting yourself. You have to be able to accept yourself to be able to feel good about yourself.

There are, of course, things to do to build your confidence. Being grateful plays a big part of being able to accept yourself. Don't make a comparison to someone else, this is about feeling confident about yourself.

Acknowledge your personal achievements, the good things you do throughout the day that make you feel good about yourself. This does work on your self-esteem also. Don't let negative thoughts get you down, and try to stop them and put a positive spin on them.

By being able to focus on yourself, you can give yourself a boost by remembering everything you have done that day to be grateful for. Everyday, we have things to be grateful about that occur. Sit down and focus on the things you have done today, things that you have accomplished. It is just as important to accept the things that didn't go your way.

If you don't accept everything about yourself, you don't accept yourself. It's a mental trick that can make you feel miserable if you let if happen. Your mind will just play on the worry and doubtfulness you have on yourself, and plague you with it. If you accept it, there is no negative energy and doubt attached to it, it just is.

Just because you accepted something that happened, doesn't mean you can't learn or change something. It's something I just wanted to make clear. Say you drank three soda-pops and you aren't proud of that. Accept the fact that you drank the three soda-pops, and then make a conscious decision to not to do it again. Beating yourself up over it doesn't make it go away, so no good will come from doing so. Keep it on a positive note, like saying you know better than to do it again now.

Putting a positive spin on everything in your life is a great tool to have you feel great about yourself.
