Betting on Horse Races to Win Using a Simple Method
Having owned and raced horses I can tell you one thing about the world of horse racing
. There are many hard working, honest, decent, successful people involved in the sport. They learn their trade whether they are owners, trainers, grooms, jockeys, or race track personnel. They apply themselves diligently and their efforts pay off when they win their share of races.
You should almost never bet on the horses these people start. If you can spot them as successful and honest, so can almost everybody else. How will you ever make money betting on such obvious winners? The answer is that you won't.
Here is a little bit of race track wit and wisdom. If you want your share of the cheese, learn to follow the rats. There are a small percentage of people who race horses who like to, shall we say, tilt the scales in their own favor. While I do not advocate this practice, I certainly don't advise you to bet against them. It is their game and you better learn to play it their way or you are going to be one of the many people who lose continually at the horse races.
If you see a well respected trainer and a successful jockey with a horse that appears fit and ready, you are looking at a bad buy. Winning money betting on horses isn't that easy, or perhaps I should re-phrase that. It is more accurate to say, making a profit betting on horses isn't that easy. You'll win with that combination I just mentioned, but you won't make a profit in the long run because they are bet down too low.
When you look at a horse race you should always be asking yourself this one question, "What is this horse doing in this race?"
If the horse doesn't appear to be capable of winning or placing well enough to get second money or even third, what is it doing in the race? If you can't answer that question, you shouldn't bet against it and you shouldn't bet on it. On the other hand, if you know the trainer is one of the rats who occasionally pulls a fast one, he or she may be about to get some cheese and you should make sure you are in line to get your share.
If something doesn't make sense there can be one of several possible explanations. One is that you just don't see something or understand something. Two is that the trainer is a loser and has the horse in a race it can't win. Three is that the horse has been held back and is going to win today. If you follow the trainers long enough and learn their tricks, you'll be able to answer that question and know when to bet and when not to bet. It doesn't mean you'll win all the time, they certainly don't no matter how many tricks they pull, but when they do win, they make a big score and you can, too.
