Beware Of Credit Card Scams For Your Own Protection.

You should always beware of credit card scams simply because many are used to cheat individuals who haven't heard about them

. Suddenly an e-mail shows up saying hurry and go to (a website link is given) to save your account from being swindled. They'll stop the crook from cheating you they say.

Whenever you click the website link within the e-mail, does it take you to the website belonging to your bank? No, it takes you to the scammer's website. There you are urged to rush and send your card numbers and other individual information to him.

The problem is, the website doesn't belong to the credit card company. Your information is becoming collected through the scammer on his website. By the time you realize what happened, he has been out shopping for expensive electronics and jewelry, using your credit card.

He may scam you by starting having a Visa card number that he knew was legitimate. Then he tried a series of numbers and expiration dates. He begins with the number following the one he understands is great. For example, the last four digits are 2222 and he then tries 2223.

Next he tries all twelve expiration dates till he hits about the right combination. He makes a small buy, then voids it. He spends hours and days doing the preparation for the scam.

The next step is to discover a gullible seller who will permit him to order an expensive item and split the cost among 3 or four credit cards. He has the goods shipped overnight. Through the time the vendor is notified that the legitimate owners of those credit cards are denying the charges, the scammer is long gone.

The card company has to absorb the loss simply because the holder can't lose more than $50. Who pays? We all do simply because costs are raised by the merchants. So, beware of credit card scams. Whenever you get e-mail from anyone you don't know, click delete.
