It seems that many car rental companies are looking to get you hooked by advertising a very low base rate for specific times of the week
. Some of these rates seem too good to be true and it can be a hook that gets you to spend more than you think. They are looking to get you to call their company ahead of the rest and really aren't worried about giving you the best deal but just getting you to shop with them.
The current deal being offered by one rental car company is as little as $9.99 per day on the weekends and of course the wording means exactly what it says since there are probably only a couple of vehicles on each lot that fall into this low price range. Essentially this means that you probably won't be paying that for your vehicle rental but this is still a tremendous deal and one that you may want to take advantage of. Just be careful as what starts out seeming like a deal may not truly be one.
They will more than likely begin to upsell when you call to make your reservation and in the end you may wind up with a much larger bill than you anticipate. It is important to realize that car rental companies make most of their money from the extras and not from the initial base rate anyway so they will definitely look to hook you with the many extras that they are offering. Extras, limits, and restrictions is the way that they are going to take that really low base rate and jack up the price to the going rate.

Many companies just use these rates to get you to call them ahead of the other companies and really don't intend to offer you these low rates or put a huge number of restrictions on them like adding on every single mile you drive and so forth.
