Bibliomancy Divination by the book

Bibliomancy is a form of divination where you can predict your future or seek spiritual insights from one of your favourite books. The actual word Bibliomancy comes from the Greek work biblos' which means paper or book and the mancy' means divination. This type of divination has been around for many centuries and records of using this technique go back more than 3000 years when the I Ching (The Book of Changes) book was first used to predict the future. Many psychics believe that bibliomancy is the Wests answer to the I Ching. The famous physician and Prophet Nostradamus use this very technique to make his predictions.

So how is it done? Well first off you need to find a book that has passages which are meaningful to you. It could be any book such as your favourite paperback or a spiritual book or even just a book of poems. A book with as many pages as possible is better. Then its a matter of thinking about the question you want answering. Meditate on this question for some time. You can either speak the question out or just say it in your head, some people like to write down the question so they have it in print. When you feel ready balance the spine of the book in your hands and let the book fall open wherever it chooses to. If this is one of your favourite books that you have looked back on time and time again it may just fall open naturally on a part that you have read many times. To overcome this you could use a dice or other randomiser to choose the page to be opened. Once you are happy you have chosen the page randomly close your eyes and run your finger down the page until you feel ready to stop. Once your

finger has stopped read the words carefully and thing about how they could relate to the issue you want resolved. Write them down if it helps.

To interpret the answer takes some practice. It might be very clear to you but it might not be that obvious at first. If you are having trouble interpreting the passage go for a walk to clear you mind, this will give your mind and intuition time to process the information. When your head is clear go back to the passage and see if it brings you some insights. It is like most forms of divination, it takes practice and time to master. You may have heard of Tarot cards well these are also a form of bibliomancy except the cards are separate and not bound together.

Another way of using the art of bibliomancy is by going to a library and by using your instinct choose a random book off any shelf and using the same techniques as described above to find the passage within the book.
