BidCactus.com was lanched in April 2009, and is another penny auction website to join the entertainment shopping industry. If you haven't heard about penny auctions yet, they work like this. You purchase bids, which cost $0.75 each on BidCactus, find an item you want on auction, and start bidding. Every time someone bids, the auction price goes up by a penny and a few seconds is added to the auction timer. The last person who bids wins the auction.

Penny auctions offer a great opportunity for people to get valuable items at very low prices, up to 95% off retail prices. However it's important to keep in mind you're not guaranteed to win anything. You could end up bidding on the same item for hours, only to run out of bids and lose the auction. PA sites like BidCactus offer a fun and exciting way to shop and bid, as long as you're willing to play the game and don't spend more than you're willing to lose.

What makes BidCactus stand out among other PA sites is their prize selection, which the main category being gift cards. Most of their prize selection consists of gift cards from places like Starbucks, Home Depot, Best Buy, Target, JC Penny's, Wal-Mart, and more. Prizes also include electronics and additional bid packages.

We did find some issues with BidCactus. First, they have a rule that limits bidders to winning three items per month. However, by looking around on their site you can find that some users have won more than three times within a one month period. This issue has led some bidders to accuse BidCactus of using bots to bid against real bidders.

Other users have made complaints about their shipping. One bidder reported winning 8 gift cards, paying a $5 shipping charge for each card. But all of the cards arrived in the same envelope. So $40 was spent on shipping, when only $5 should have been charged to the winner.

Overall BidCactus has a few attractive features which make them a great choice for some bidders. If you're looking to win gift cards, BidCactus' selection may be just what you're looking for. But many of the complaints about this site have us weary about this one, and we'd like to hear more positive feedback before we can really recommend this site.
