Founded in 1896, the Big Ten Conference is the oldest Division 1 college athletic conference in the United States. Despite its name, there are 11 schools in the conference. Located in eight different states in the Midwestern U.S., the Big Ten's borders stretch East-to-West from Minnesota to Pennsylvania. In July of 2011, the University of Nebraska is set to become the Big Ten's 12th member.

The Big Ten includes one of the most storied rivalries in all of college basketball. Indiana University, located in Bloomington, Indiana, and Purdue University, situated in West Lafayette, Indiana, began playing each other in 1901. While Purdue leads the individual matchup with 110 wins to the Hoosiers 84, the Hoosiers have five national championships compared to zero for the Boilermakers. The rivalry will commence on February 8th, when the Hoosiers travel to West Lafayette. Make sure to the get your Indiana Basketball vs. Purdue Basketball Tickets before they run out.

Michigan State Spartans: Continually one of college basketball's top teams, the Spartans won the Big Ten and made it to the NCAA Final Four in 2009. Michigan State begin their title defense against the Minnesota Gophers at home in East Lansing, Michigan.

Northwestern Wildcats: 20 wins earned the Wildcats an NIT berth in 2009, but they lost Kevin Coble to the NBA, and could struggle to repeat that performance this year. They tip of Big Ten play against the Purdue Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Ohio State Buckeyes: Thad Matta's Buckeyes tied Michigan State for the Big Ten title, and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. They play arch-rival Michigan Wolverines January 12 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Minnesota Golden Gophers: Minnesota used a late-season push to earn an invitation to the NCAA Tourney, but they were eliminated in the first round. They'll look to build on that success against Michigan State in the conference opener.

Penn State Nittany Lions: Penn State finished 2009 dead last in the Big Ten, but they do return their entire team for this season.
