Most of the times these types of wheels come are 20 inches in diameter. The rim diameter is 406 mm. There are more reasons why they are made so small. Lightweight bicyclists are the ones that use them the most.

On the other hand heavy bicyclists use 29 inch wheels. Their larger diameter and thick rim is excellent for supporting heavy riders. They have 622 mm rim which is sometimes reinforced for greater durability in off road bike riding.

There is a lot to be said about these types of wheels. There are too many factors that are taking in consideration in the process of designing and manufacturing.
