Tampons made from cotton and packaged in paper are also much better choices for womens health and for the environment. Ironically, these earth friendly products are actually cheaper than plastic based ones.

Personal care items, such as disposable gloves used in restaurant kitchens and hairnets used by all employees can also be changed to be more environmentally friendly. Hairnets usually wind up in our oceans. Eventually fish get caught in them and die. Bigger fish will mistake plastic for food and eat it. This slowly poisons the sea life. Something must be done to help our environment before we destroy our planet.
