The highly pathogenic form of bird flu spreads more rapidly through flocks of poultry. This form may cause disease that affects multiple internal organs, and it has more mortality rate within hours.

Symptoms of bird flu are much like normal viral infection symptoms and can include a cough, sore throat, fever, muscle aches and fatigue in human. Bird flu symptoms can vary according to specific viral subtype and strain. Infections with symptoms for bird flu virus can also lead to pneumonia and other severe respiratory problems.

Drinking plenty of fluids such as water, fruit juices and protein soups also help in alleviating symptoms of bird flu by maintaining level of water in the body.
