Bjj Kimonos And Their Gi Pants
Bjj Kimonos generally come with a Gi top and a pair of Gi pants
. The Gi top also known as the Gi jacket is the main part of the overall Jiu Jitsu Uniform. Bjj Kimonos are made strictly for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which is why they are made heavier and more durable than any karate Gi. Bjj Kimonos usually weigh anywhere from 2 7 pounds. The 2 pound Bjj Kimonos are the lightest in weight and are pretty new on the market mostly known as the Ultra light Gis. The heavier Jiu Jitsu Kimonos are usually known as the Double Weave or Gold Weave Gis. These Jiu Jitsu Gis are the traditional weight made by the Gracie family.
Bjj Kimonos are usually classified by the fabric used or their weave. The most common forms of Bjj Gi fabric would be the single, double and gold weave Gis. Single weaves are the lightest and double weave Gis are the heaviest. Gold weave Gis are sometimes made heavy or light since it is only the fabric being used and not the weight that matters. Other common forms of Jiu Jistu Gi Weaves used are the Pearl Weave, Honey Comb Weave, and Hybrid Weave. This fabric is only mentioned describing the Gi top and not the Gi pants.
The Gi pants are not made of the same material as the Gi top. Gi pants come in 3 different types of fabrics used, drill cloth, rip stop and canvas. Drill cloth material is the traditional material used and is the most common fabric used for Gi pants today. A newer popularity is rising for the rip stop gi pants since they are much harder to rip or some may say never rip. Canvas material is said to be the best material used since it is the most comfortable and has greater tear resistance than drill cloth material. However, drill cloth material is still excellent material used for your Bjj Kimonos and can be trained with for up to a year. Gi pants typically have two loops for the waist string on the top of the gi pants. Most Jiu Jitsu Gis have it made by the same drill cloth material. However, the popularity of the rope style draw strings have been seemingly growing. The difference between the strings to use to tie your gi pants is very minimal and really is not that important.
