Black By Ezard A Restaurant Interior That Rocks
Sydney, Australias Star Casino has once again teamed up with the Paul Kelly Design team
, this time in order to bring Black by Ezard to life in all its luxurious glory. So much more than just your average throw a sausage on the barbie grill and steakhouse, classically-trained Chef Teage Ezards new restaurant focuses on providing top quality food and wine in nothing less than the most spectacular of surroundings. With subtle hints of American influence dotted throughout the Black by Ezard restaurant interior, the overall design is a visually delectable contrast between contemporary, sophisticated details and freeform, organic elements. To sum up, this dining environment in a single word: sexy.
While the menu may be elegantly complex and strikingly flavourful, its rivalled by the restaurants dcor. Just like rock n roll music itself, the Black by Ezard restaurant interior has an infectious rhythm. Employing nature as a key source of design inspiration, the nearby water is interpreted in a variety of eye-catching ways from the black and white carpet resembling the sunlit ocean floor to the delicate chandeliers mimicking an eddying tornado of underwater life. One of the restaurants most unique design features is their wine cellar or, as the design team has deemed it, the wine rotunda. Here, the oceanic rhythm is carried through while 4,000 bottles of reds and whites are softly illuminated as they spiral up to the ceiling in a swirling vortex similar to cyclones of fish off the coast of the Tasman Sea.
Another natural element in the Black by Ezard restaurant interior design rhythm is the use of native timber to balance out the industrial feeling given off by concrete pillars, stone flooring inlays, large glass picture windows and polished chrome railings. These natural wooden elements can be seen stretching to the ceiling on the walls and partitions dividing the large-party booths as well as on the various bar stands and a grand piece of timber in the form of a lengthwise slice of tree trunk repurposed as a feature dining table.
Finally, the restaurants interior design strikes a balance between light and dark with its private and semi-private dining areas. Despite the name of the establishment, Black, and its aptly named private dining space, Onyx, patrons will find themselves richly enveloped in light once they venture inside. A bright, starry chandelier illuminates the shiny onyx-coloured walls that are polished to a mirror finish and gracefully mimics the curvaceous white seating below. Even the black carpet follows this theme, emblazoned with a central white sunburst positioned directly beneath the chandelier and table. The semi-private dining area finds guests surrounded by 200 degrees of fine chain mail curtains, contrasting with the natural wood of the table and beautifully reflecting light from the overhead chandelier, creating a truly dazzling dining experience.
In Sydney, Australia, normal is going to get you nowhere. To really stand out from the crowd in this colourful and vibrant atmosphere, its going to take a bit of flair. Thanks to the creative team at Paul Kelly Design, Black by Ezard has flair by the bucket load, and this is one stunning restaurant that's as entertaining and pleasing to eyes as it is to the taste buds.
