Wish it had more power

I used this with a pruning blade to try and cut through some grass roots while transplanting large clumps of grass. After a while, I grabbed a friends spade and it did a much better job chopping through the roots. Perhaps a different blade would have done the trick too. The biggest problem is when I would put some weight behind it, but device would get bogged down. We'll see how it handles other tasks.

I love that it works with my other batteries though. I now have several 18-volt products 3 chargers and 6 batteries.

Cordless Saw

Again, an excellent 18 volt product from B&D. Wish they would continue to expand this line.

Handy saw

This is a really handy saw to have around, especially if you already have Black & Decker 18V slide-style batteries. I also have the Black & Decker 18V string trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, jigsaw, and 2 drills, all of which I really like. It's nice to be able to use the same batteries for all my tools. Firestorm and Black & Decker 18V batteries are pretty much interchangeable, or at least the ones I have are. This recip saw does a good job cutting through tree limbs. I've used it to cut branches up to 4" in diameter, and it worked just fine. And it works well on 2x4's too.

You could buy a more powerful saw, but you would either have to deal with the inconvenience of the power cord, or the added expense of buying different batteries and charger if you went with the Dewalt for example. To buy a Dewalt 18V will run you $200.00 for a kit with a battery and charger. No thanks! I don't need to demolish buildings or cut through 1/8" think steel, so my Firestorm recip saw will do just fine.
