Blackberry mobiles is a series of mobiles from the Canadian company Research in Motion

(RIM).Blackberry mobiles are smartphone devices that have mobile email features. Blackberry mobiles is primarily business class users who needs the emails while traveling. Blackberry mobiles also have the applications like Address book, Calendar, To-Do lists, etc. The Blackberry Mobiles has captured 20.8% of world market in terms of smartphones.

The Blackberry mobiles were launched in the year 1999 as a two way pager. The features that made users choice were push e-mail, mobile telephone, text messaging, Internet faxing, web browsing and other wireless information services. The Blackberry mobiles can be termed as convergent device. RIM currently offers Blackberry email service to non-Blackberry devices through the Blackberry software. Currently Blackberry mobiles have color display instead of earlier monochrome devices.

Blackberry mobiles have built-in QWERTY keyboard which is optimized for "thumbing." Two of the models of Blackberry mobiles are also full touch-screen devices. The Blackberry mobiles have a scroll ball, or "trackball" which is used to navigate among various applications of the mobile.

Modern GSM-based BlackBerry mobiles have an ARM 7 or 9 processors. While old Blackberry mobiles used Intel 80386 processors. The latest GSM BlackBerry models have an Intel PXA901 312 MHz processor.

Blackberry mobiles in India:

The availability of Blackberry mobiles in India started in the year 2007. Couple of big mobile service providers started selling Blackberry mobiles in India with their special tariff plans. However, the use of Blackberry mobiles was opposed by the government due to the code that was not supplied to the government by RIM.

However, the now the Blackberry mobiles are easily available in the country and all the mobile service providers are selling the phones. The Blackberry mobiles are now becoming popular in India.
